Answering the Wh-words
Wh-words ask for information so it is not essential that
their answer will be in yes or no.
- Where is your brother?
This question asks for the complete information about the
location. Answer in yes or no will be not conventional.
- How old are you?
This question is asking about the age.
How to form Wh-words
Wh-words can be used with auxiliary verbs or without auxiliary verbs.
Wh-words without auxiliary verbs
- How are you?
- Who are you?
- Where are you?
Wh-words without with auxiliary verbs
- What do you do?
- Why did you stop?
Negative Wh-words
When we want to use negative Wh-words, we use auxiliary
verb “do” with the Wh-words.
- Who wants a book?
- Who doesn’t want a book?
- Which movie ended?
- Which movie didn’t end?
