Since and For |
Since and for are two important prepositions used when speaking English language. We use since and for when talking about time (present, past and future).This article is about use of since and for to avoid the confusion when using them.

Since
Since is used to refer to the particular time in the past.
It is used for an action which stated in the past and is still in progress.
- He has been living in London since 09 January, 2015.
In this example particular time is shown which is 09
January, 2015.It also shows that he is still living in London.
Since is normally used in the present perfect tense and it is also used in other tenses.
For
For is used to show any period of time that is in present,
past or future. It does not tell us about the particular time when the work
started and when it ended.
- He lived in London for three years.(Past Indefinite tense)
This example does not show the particular time. (Which three years)
